To configure and test a device on the Softruck platform, it must first be properly registered in the tool. If this has not yet been done, please refer to our tutorial: How to register a SIM card or device.
Once registration is complete, we begin the configuration process. In the case of TOPSIDE, this is always done via SMS, that is, by sending text messages to the SIM card number installed in the device.
Note: The SMS message must be in TXT format; it cannot be in PDU format.
Before sending the configuration commands:
Install the SIM card in your device.
Connect the device to a 12V power source.
Once this is done, send the basic configuration messages to your tracker:
Command 1: APN,123456,APN,USER,PASSWORD#
Command 2: IP,123456,3.209.18.222,3671#
Command 3: TIMER,30:600:30#
Command 4: HBT,123456,10#
Command 5: GMT,123456,Time Zone#
It is important to note that the APN, username, and password must be updated with the correct information for each, as these vary depending on the SIM card provider and the mobile carrier used.
All done! Just check the device’s online status in the Softruck tool. If the device is not communicating, check the SIM card, the registered IMEI, and the settings that were sent.
